New Zealand vs Australia 1st T20 Match


Australia after completing their T20 series against West Indies they are now tour on New Zealand and the both teams are scheduled to play 2 match T20 series.

The 1st T20 match held today Feb 26th at Wellington. New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first.

New Zealand's Squad:
B McCullum, P Ingram, M Guptil, R Taylor, J Franklin, G Hopkins, J Oram, N McCullum, D Vettori, D Tuffey and S Bond.

Australia's Squad:
D Warner, S Watson, M Clarke, M Johnson, D Hussey, C White, B Haddin, D Christian, S Smith, S Tait and D Nannes.

Match Result:
Australia won the match by 6 wickets at 16th over. Michael Johnson was named as the player of the match for his 3 wickets in 4 four overs with 19 runs.


Match Summary:
New Zealand started their innings with B McCullum and P Ingram. Australian bowlers came well their ball and sent back New Zealand batsmen at regular intervals. Only 3 batsmen managed to get score in double digit in whole it was not New Zealand's day. At the end of 20 overs play New Zealand managed to score only 118 runs by losing all their wickets. For New Zealand J Franklin scored 43 runs, M Guptil scored 30 runs and G Hopkins scored 21 runs. For Australia M Johnson picked 3 wickets and S Tait, D Nannes & S Watson each picked 2 wickets.

With the target of 120 Australia started their innings with D Warner and S Watson. Every batsmen came with their best and at 16 overs Australia reached their target 120 by losing 4 wickets and won the match by 6 wickets. For Australia D Hussey scored 46 runs, D Warner and S Watson each scored 19 runs. For New Zealand S Bond picked 2 wickets and D Vettori & N McCullum each picked 1 wicket.

The 2nd T20 match will be played at Christchurch on 28th Feb.
