India vs South Africa 1st Test Match



The 1st Test Match between India and South Africa started on Feb 6th at Vidarbha Cricket Association, Nagpur. South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first.

South Africa's Squad:
G Smith, A Prince, H Amla, J Kallis, AB de Villers, JP Duminy, M Boucher, D Steyn, W Parnell, M Morkel and P Harris.

India's Squad:
G Gambhir, V Sehwag, M Vijay, S Tendulkar, S Badrinath, MS Dhoni, W Saha, Harbhajan Singh, Z Khan, A Mishra and I Sharma.

Match Result:
South Africa won the match by a innings and 6 runs. H Amla was named as the player of the match for his 253* runs.

Match Summary:
1st innings: South Africa
It was all a South African batsmens show who scored 558 runs by losing just 6 wickets. It was an wonderful batting performance from H Amla and J Kallis who paired and scored 340 runs in their partnership. At 176 overs South Africa declared their innings when they were 558 for 6. For South Africa H Amla scored 253* runs and remained not out, J Kallis 173 runs and AB de Villers 53 runs. For India Z Khan picked 3 wickets, Harbhajan Singh 2 wickets and V Sehwag 1 wicket.

1st innings: India
With trailing by 558 runs India started their innings with G Gambhir and V Sehwag. But Indian batsmens failed to score, 8 batsmens went with single digit score. It was an great bowling performance from South Africa who managed to restrict India for 233 runs. For India V Sehwag scored 109 runs, S Badrinath 56 runs and G Gambhir 12 runs. For South Africa D Steyn picked 7 wickets and M Morkel, P Harris & W Parnell each took 1 wicket. 

2nd innings: India
Since India failed to avoid follow-on they started their 2nd innings.But there was no any improvement in the Indian batting department.They started the 2nd innings with trailing by 325 runs and failed to score it and lost the first test match by an innings and 6 runs. For India S Tendulkar scored his 46th test ton, Harbhajan Singh 39 runs and W Saha scored 36 runs. For South Africa D Steyn & P Harris picked 3 wickets, W Parnell 2 wickets and M Morkel & J Kallis each 1 wicket.
