India vs South Africa 2nd ODI Match


The 2nd ODI between India and South Africa held today Feb 24th in Captain Roop Singh Stadium, Gwalior.

India won the toss and decided to bat first.

India's Squad:
V Sehwag, S Tendulkar, D Karthik, Y Pathan, MS Dhoni, V Kohli, S Raina, R Jadeja, P Kumar, A Nehra and S Sreesanth.

South Africa's Squad:
H Amla, H Gibbs, R van der Merwe, J Kallis, AB de Villers, A Petersen, JP Diminy, M Boucher, W Parnell, D Steyn and C Langeveldt.

Match Result:
India won the match by 153 runs. Sachin Tendulakar was named as the player of the match for 200* not out which came at just 147 balls with 25-4's and 3-6's. Through which he became the first man to reach 200 runs in One Day Internationals.


Match Summary:
India started his innings with V Sehwag and S Tendulkar. India lost their initial wicket Sehawg with 9 9 runs in 3.5 overs. After that nothing went in favor of South African's. Every batsmen started to build huge partnership with Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin and Karthik scored 194 runs in their partnership, Y pathan and Sachin added 81 runs in their partnership and MS Dhoni and Sachin added 101 runs. At the end of 50 overs play India scored 401 runs by losing just 3 wickets. For India Sachin scored 200* runs off 147 balls, D Karthik 79 runs off 85 balls and MS Dhoni 68 runs off 35 balls. For South Africa W Parnell picked 2 wickets and van der Merwe picked 1 wicket.

With the huge target of 402 runs South Africa started their innings with H Amla and H Gibbs. Everyone expected this match would be the same as 434 runs chase by South Africa against Australia. But it doesn't happened. South Africa stated losing wickets in regular intervals and South Africa manged to score only 248 runs by losing all their wickets in 42.5 overs. For South Africa AB de Villers scored 114* runs off just 101 balls, H Amla 34 runs off 22 balls and W Parnell 18 runs. For India Sreesanth picked 3 wickets, Nehra, Jadeja & Pathan each picked 2 wickets and P Kumar picked 1 wicket.
