New Zealand vs Australia 1st ODI Match

After completing their T20 series, 5 match ODI series started today March 3rd between New Zealand and Australia. 1st ODI match held today 3rd March at McLean Park, Napier and it was a Day Night Match. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first.

Australia's Squad:
S Watson, B Haddin, R Ponting, M Clarke, C White, M Hussey, J Hopes, M Johnson, N Hauritz, R Harris and D Bollinger.

New Zealand's Squad:
B McCullum, P Ingram, M Guptil, R Taylor, J Franklin, N Broom, S Styris, D Tuffey, T Southee, S Bond and J Oram.

Match Result:
New Zealand won the match by 2 wickets at 49.2 overs. R Taylor was named as the player of the match for his 70 runs off 71 balls with 6-4's & 1-6. Leading the 5 match ODI series as 1-0.

Match Summary:
S Watson and B Haddin started Australia's innings. Every batsmen contributed some runs and at the end of 50 overs play Australia managed to score 275 runs by losing 8 wickets. For Australia M Hussey scored 59 runs off 59 balls with 4-4's, S Watson scored 45 runs off 31 balls with 7-4's & 1-6 and R Ponting scored 44 runs off 56 balls with 4-4's. For New Zealand D Tuffey picked 3 wickets, S Bond 2 wickets and T Southee, J Oram & J Franklin each took 1 wicket.

With the target of 275 runs New Zealand started their innings with B McCullum and P Ingram. Even New Zealand batsmen showed a good batting performance. They attained their target of 276 at 49.2 overs by losing 8 wickets. For New Zealand R Taylor scored 70 runs off 71 balls with 6-4's & 1-6, S Styris scored 49* runs off 34 balls with 7-4's & 1-6 and remained not out, B McCullum scored 45 runs off 43 balls with 7-4's. For Australia D Bollinger picked 2 wickets and R Harris, M Johnson, J Hopes & S Watson each took 1 wicket.

The next match will be played on March 6th at Auckland.
