KFC Twenty20 BigBash - South Australia vs Tasmania

The KFC Twenty20 BigBash match held today between South Australia and Tasmania at Adelaide Oval.

South Australia won the toss and decided to bat first.

South Australia wo the match by 23 runs and AW O'Brien was named as the named player of the match for his 3 wickets.

T Paine, M Dighto, R Lockyear, G Bailey, T Birt, Naved-ul-Hasan, J Rogers, J Krejza, B Geeves and J Faulkner.

G Manou and D Harris started the South Australia's innings with bat, it was a superb batting from the openers who added 46 runs in their partnership in just 4.1 overs. Every Batsmens came well with their bat and done justice to their work except the big blaster Boom Boom Afridi who went out with just 1 runs. But South Australia were not able to play their full 20 overs and lost all the wickets at 18 overs and scored only 131 runs. For South Australia G Manou scored 33 runs, K Pollard 27 runs and M Cosgrove 25 runs. For Tasmania Naved-ul-Hasan took 3 wickets, J Kaulkner 2 wickets and Geeves & Krejza each took 1 wicket.

With the target of 132 runs Paine and Dighton started their innings for Tasmania. But Tasmania lost their both the openers without scoring any runs at the very 1st over of the 2nd innings. Before reaching the mark of 50 runs Tasmania lost 4 wickets. They started to lose their wickets at a regular intervals and there was o partnership between any player. At the end of 20 overs Tasmania scored only 108 runs by losing 9 wickets and lost their match by 23 runs. For Tasmania Birt scored 22 runs, Geeves 18 rus, Bailey 16 runs. For South Australia AW O'Brien & Tait each picked 2 wickets, Christian 2 wickets and Shahid Afridi 1 wicket.

The next match will be played between New South Wales and Queensland at Sydney on Jan 13th 2010.
