New Zealand vs Australia 2nd ODI Match

The 2nd ODI between New Zealand and Australia held today MArch 6th at Eden Park, Auckland.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first.

Australia's Squad:

S Watson, B haddin, R Ponting, M Clarke, C White, M Hussey, J Hopes, M Johnson, R Harris, N Hauritz and D Bollinger.

New Zealand's Squad:

B McCullum, P Ingram, M Guptil, N Broom, J Franklin, S Styris, G Hopkins, D Vettori, D Tuffey, S Bond and T Southee.

Match Result:

Australia won the match by 12 runs - D/L method. D Vettori was named as the player of the match for his 70 runs off 49 balls and 2 wickets.

Match Summary:

Australia started their innings with S Watson and B Haddi. At the end of 50 overs  Australia managed to score 273 runs by losing 7 wickets.For Australia M Hussey scored 56 runs off 63 balls with 4-4's & 1-6, C White scored 54 runs off 60 balls with 1-4 & 3-6's and B Haddin scored 53 runs off 62 balls with 3-4's & 3-6's. For New Zealand S Bond & D Vettori each picked 2 wickets and J Franklin & D Tuffey each took 1wicket.

With the target of 274 New Zealand started their innings with B McCullum and P Ingram. At 8.4 overs rain stopped the play when New Zealand were 43/3. Then the play was reduced to 45 over match with the target of 266 runs. But New Zealand batsmen were seemed to return the pavilion at regular intervals. At 43.2 overs New Zealand lost all their wickets and scored only 253 runs through which Australia won the match by 12 runs. For New Zealand D Vettori scored 70 runsoff 49 balls, S Styris scored 46 runs off 58 balls and G Hopkins scored 35 runs off 39 balls. For Australia M Johnson picked 4 wickets, R Harris picked 3 wickets, S Watson picked 2 wickets and N Hauritz 1 wicket.

The 3rd ODI will be played on March 9th at Hamilton.
