India vs South Africa 2nd Test Matcch Day 1

The 2nd Test Match between India and South Africa started today Feb 14th at Eden Gardens and will be played till 18th Feb 2010.

Visitors South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first.

South Africa's Squad:

G Smith, A Petersen, H Amla, J Kallis, AB de Villiers, A Prince, JP Duminy, D Styen, P Harris, W Parnell and  M Morkel.

India's Squad:

V Sehwag, G Gambhir, M Vijay, S Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, S Badrinath, MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh, Z Khan, A Mishra and I Sharma.

Match Summary - Day 1

G Smith and A Petersen started South Africa's 1st innings. At 2.6 overs Z Khan striked South Africa by dismissing their skipper G Smith with 4 runs and South Africa went 9-1. Then H Amla joined A Petersen and played a brilliant innings. They both added 209 runs in their partnership. At Drinks break South Africa were 63/1 in 12 overs with A Petersen 26* & H Amla 23*. Then 100 runs came for South Africa at 19.5 overs. 

At lunch break South Africa were 116/1 in 26 overs with A Petersen 51* & H Amla 49*. Then 200 runs came for them at 44.2 overs. At 52.4 overs South Africa lost their second wicket A Petersen with ton, 100 runs off 164 balls with 16-4's and South Africa went 218/2. At Tea break South Africa went 228/2 in 56 overs with H Amla 114* runs and J Kallis 0*. After tea at the very first over South Africa lost their 3rd wicket H Amla with 114 runs at 56.4 overs and went 229/3. Their 4th wicket was J kallis with 10 runs at 65.1 overs and went 251/4. Then South lost their 5 wickets by just adding 15 runs to their board. A Prince went with 1 runs, JP Duminy with 0 runs, AB de Villiers with 12 runs, P Harris with 1 run and D Steyn with 5 runs. At 81 overs the play was stopped due to bad light and South Africa were 266/9 with W Parnell 2* runs and M Morkel 3 runs. For India Z Khan and Harbhajan singh each picked 3wickets and I Sharma & A Mishra each took 1 wicket.
