The final test between India and Sri Lanka started today at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. As India lead the 3 test match series 1-0. Sri Lankan's are looking forward for a victory in this match to draw the test series.
Indian Squad - Sehwag, M Vijay, Dravid, Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Laxman, Dhoni(cap), Harbhajan Singh, Ojha, Z Khan and Sreesanth.
Sri Lankan Squad - Paranavitana, Dilshan, Sangakkara, M Jayawardene, Samaraweera, Mathews, P Jayawardene, Kulasekara, Herath, Muralitharan and Welegedara.
The visitors Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first, Paranavitana and Dilshan entered the field to start the 1st innings of the 3rd test match for Sri Lanka. The opening batsmens played very well and constructed and 93 runs came between their partnership, at 19.5 overs Bhaji took the wicket of Paranavitana to break the partnership, Paranavitana went out with 53 runs off 81 balls and Sri Lanka were 93/1. Then the skipper Sangakkara joined Dilshan, 100 runs came for Sri Lanka in 22.5 over and then Dilshan scored his half century off 57 balls, but Sangakkara didn't stay for too long and went out at 30.5 overs with just 18 runs and Sri Lanka were 128/2. Then M Jayawardene joined Dilshan and 59 runs came between their partnership and in 47.4 overs M Jayawardene went out with 29 runs and Sri Lanka were 187/3 and the wicket was taken by Sreesanth. Then Samaraweera came with bat and was not able to stay in the field and went out with just 1 run in 48.1 overs and Sri Lanka were 4 wickets down for 188 runs. Then Mathews joined Dilshan and they both played very well, 200 runs came for Sri Lanka in 52.3 overs then after tea break Dilshan got his 100 off 139 balls with 10-4's and 2-6's. 74 runs came in their partnership, in 64.6 overs Dilshan went out with 109 runs and Sri Lanka were 262/5. Then P Jayawardene joined Mathews, 50 runs came for Mathews off 60 balls. 300 runs came for Sri Lanka in 73.2 overs and then in 79.6 overs P Jayawardene went out with 43 runs and Sri Lanka were 329/6. Then Kulasekara joined Mathews and scored 30 runs, in 84.6 overs Kulasekara went out with 12 runs and Sri Lanka were 359/7. immediately after losing Kulasekara wicket Herath left the field with just 1 run in 87.2 overs. Then Muralitharan joined Mathews and play came to the end of day's play in 89 overs. At stumps Sri Lanka were 366 for 8 wickets with Mathews 86* and Muralitharan 0*.
For India Harbhajan Singh took 4 wickets, Ojha took 2 wickets and Z Khan & Sreesanth each took 1 wicket.
