Australia vs Pakistan 3rd Test, Day 4


At the stumps of Day 3 Australia were 59/1 in 18 overs in their 2nd innings with  Katich 33* and R Ponting 25* and leading by 277 runs. Today Jan 17th they resumed their 2nd innings.

Day 4 Plays Summary:

After starting today's play S Katich and R Ponting showed their brilliancy of batting. S Katich got hi half century off just 64 ball with 8-4's. Then 100 runs came up for Australia in 26.5 overs and after that R Ponting got his half century off 91 balls which include 8-4's. At drinks break Australia were 128/1 in 32 overs with S Katich 70* and R Ponting 53*.

After drinks 150 runs came for Australia at 36.3 overs. Then S Katich got his century off 137 balls which includes 13-4's. At 43.1 overs Australia lot their 2nd wicket  Katich with 100 runs and went 192/2. Then 200 runs came for Australia in 45.3 overs. At lunch break Australia were 200/2 in 46 overs with Ponting 88* and Hussey 3*.

After lunch Australia lost their 3 wickets by just adding 19 runs to their board. Their 3rd wicket was Ponting with 89 runs at 46.4 overs, 5th wicket was Haddin with 8 runs at 47.4 overs and 5th wicket Johnson with 0 runs and declared their innings at 48.4 overs. For Pakistan S Malik picked 2 wicket and Aamer & Kaneria each took 1 wicket. At the end of their 2nd innings Australia were 219/ 5 and leading the innings by 437 runs.

With the target of 438 runs Pakistan started their 2nd innings with Imran Farhat and Salman Butt. But before drink break Pakistan lost their 2 wicket, 1st wicket was Salman Butt with 8 runs at 4.6 overs and 2nd wicket was Imran Farhat with 14 runs at 9.6 overs.

At drinks in 10 overs Australia were 29/2 with K Manzoor 6 runs. After drinks 50 runs came for Australia in 14.5 overs. Then lost their 3rd wicket Mohammad Yousuf with 23 runs at 19.1 overs. At tea Pakistan were 67/3 in 21 overs with K Manzoor 17 runs and Umar Akmal 3 runs. After tea Pakistan lost their 4th wicket Umar Akmal with 15 runs at 25.2 over and 100 runs came for Pakistan at 32.1 overs. At 34.2 overs rain stopped the 4th Day' play.

At the stumps of Day 4 Pakistan were 103/4 in 34.2 overs with Manzoor 23*, S Malik 18* and still need 334 runs to win. For Australia S Watson picked 2 wickets and Bollinger & Siddle each took 1 wicket.
