NEHRU CUP 2009

The Defending Champions India retains their Nehru Cup 2009 title by defeating Syria. The finals of Nehru Cup held today at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi between India and Syria in which India defeated Syria in a tie breaker as 6-5 and retained the title. After 90 minutes play the match ended up with 1-1 tie and the match went for tie breaker in which Sunil Chhetri, Climax Lawrence, Steven Dias, Abdul Razak, Surkumar Singh and Anwar Ali scored for India. The title winners India received a price money of US $40,000 and the runners up Syria received US $20,000.

FORCE INDIA - F1

Force India grabs their first podium finish in the F1, through Giancarlo Fisichella's victory in Belgian Garnd Prix. Fisichella finishes in 2nd positon and scored maiden points(8 points) for his Force India team. The Italian driver tried to win the race but finished in 2nd spot behind Kimi Raikkonen who got the lead through KERS(Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and fisichella finished without KERS with the time gap of less than a minute.

Force India team was formed in oct 2007 by Vijay Mallya who bought the Spyker F1 team for 88 million Euro.

UEFA Charged Eduardo

Arsenal's Eduardo, to be charged by UEFA for his indisciplinary action to win a penalty against Celtic on wednesday in second leg match. Disciplinary proceedings have been opened against him by the UEFA control and disciplinary body.

The charge is based on Article 10, paragraph 1c of the UEFA disciplinary regulations (misconduct of players) which states: "Players may be suspended for two competition matches, or for a specified period, for acting with the obvious intent to cause any match official to make an incorrect decision or supporting his error of judgment and thereby causing him to make an incorrect decision." If Eduardo founds guilty he will face a suspension of two matches.

France Recalled Thierry Henry

France coach Raymond Domenech has recalled the Barcelona striker Thierry Henry back to the world cup squad for two matches against Romania and Serbia. Henry, who missed his previous world cup match against Faroe Islands this month due to Achilles injury. France plays Romania infornt of their home crowd in Stade de France on Sep 5 and four days later they fly to Serbia to play against them.

SALMAN KHAN - IPL'S NEW FRANCHISE??

Where already few flim stars had owned a team in IPL, Sharukh Khan- Kolkata Knight Riders, Preity Zinda - Punjab Kings XI, Shilpa Shetty - Rajasthan Royals and Divya Spandana - Royal Challengers Bangalore and now Salman Khan is showing his interest to become a franchise for a IPL team for the 2011 edition. IPL commite had already decided to include two more franchise in the 2011 edition. Regarding the franchise, Salmam recently met IPL Chairman Lalit Modi and discussed the procedures for it. Asking about this to Lalit Modi, he disclosed that not only Salman but 20 more celebrities had shown their interest in buying a team and the cost of a team will be over 200-300 million USD.

Akram to Coach KKR??

Wasim Akram becomes strong Contender to coach Kolkata Knight Riders. He confirmed this in an exclusive chat with Espn, that he had received a phone call from the King Khan's secretary regarding the coaching assingment of KKR, which will be held on sunday. Now Wasim Akram will be competing with former England all rounder Dermot Reeves, former Pakistan coach Richard Pybus, former Indian coach John Wright, former England coach Duncan Fletcher and Dav Whatmore to coach KKR. Rogers Cup

Elena Dementieva wins Rogers cup in Toronto. Fourth seed Dementieva beats Maria Sharapova in the finals as 6-4, 6-3 to win the title. Maria Sharapova who gave her come back after 10 month due to shoulder injury struggled hard to concede her form, but failed. It was Dementieva's third WTA title of the year.

It was his 3rd Cincinnati Masters title and 4th title of this year, through this victory he is now with 2430 points in No.1 position. We can expect Federer to continue his form in U.S open, which begins next week in New York.

European Grand Prix

Rubens Barrichello claims victory after 5 years by winning the European Grand Prix in Valencia with Brawn GP, his last victory was in 2004 Chinese Grand Prix with Ferrari. Its a 10th victory for the Brazilian Driver in his career, Lewis Hamilton finshed second and Kimi Raikkonen in third place.

After making a new world record in 100m with 9.58 sec in world Championship in Berlin, by beating the mark of 9.69 sec that he set in Beijing last year. Now Usain Bolt smashes his own record in 200m with 19.19 sec, the previous world record mark was 19.30 sec made in Beijing Olympics, Panama's Alonso Edward claiming silver in 19.81 and American Wallace Spearmon the bronze in 19.85. Who is KKR'S new coach??

KKR'S owner Sharuk Khan had made a list of coaches to replace Buchanan. The list includes former England all rounder Dermot Reeves, former Pakistan coach Richard Pybus, former Indian coach John Wright, former England coach Duncan Fletcher and Dav Whatmore. The team had planned to include Indians in their coaching panel, the Indian names are Chandrakant Pandit, Paras Mhambrey and Lalchand Rajput. Chandrakant was veteran Mumbai coach, Mhambery was the coach of Bengal team and Rajput was the team incharge of Indian side who won the T20 world cup. Final list of coach will be made after the three day meeting between the Coaches and team in mumbai beginning this sunday.

BOOM BOOM To Lead Pakistan T20 team

BOOM BOOM Afridi will lead the paksitan T20 team against Sirlanka this month after their 5 ODI series. Since Younis Khan had announced his retirement from the T20 format, PCB elected Afridi as captain. Asking about this to Afridi, he said leading the team is a big responsibility over my head and i will give my best for the team and will lead the team in unique style.

Afridi is one of the succesfull all-rounder in this formt, who had played 23 matches with 371 runs & 33 wickets. Defenitely it will be a big task for him to lead the champions of T20.

Airtel title sponsors of CLT20

No more champions League Twenty20, its now Airtel Champions League Twenty20. Airtel will be the offical title sponsors of Champions League Twenty20 for five years starting from this inagural season. Airtel, in New Delhi signed a five year deal with ESPN to sponsor the CLT20. Airtel owns a right to place their logo as the ground title. The deal is expected to worth about 170 crore, but both the officals of Airtel and ESPN refused to reveal the excact mount of deal. Its a partnership deal for Airtel with ESPN.

Soon Airtel will play a big role in the world of sports, as they are already in talk with Manchester United Football team to sponsor that team.

India moves to 156th place by lossing 9 positions

GIBBS PREFERS DECCAN CHARGERS

In the inagural season of CLT20 Gibbs will represent Deccan Chargers team the winners of IPL rather than his home team Cape Cobras. The news was confirmed by his agent Donnie Commins Afrikaans daily Beeld and Gibbs will pay compensation to Cape Cobras for his absence.

His country mens Smith and Duminy will represent their home side Cape Cobras since thier IPL teams have not qualified for CLT20 this year.

REAL MADRID BAGS XABI ALONSO

After a long fustration, Xabi Alonso is finally in Real Madrid.
